Strategic Account Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Account Manager to work across our audio products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing strong relationships with clients at a senior level, understanding their business needs, and identifying opportunities to expand our products and services within their organisations. The Strategic Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring high customer satisfaction and retention.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the key users and functionality of our audio products
- Understand the business goals and needs of each client and work collaboratively to ensure they are getting the most from our audio products
- Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and introducing new products/services
- Monitor system usage, track key metrics, and provide regular reports to be used internally
- Manage annual rate increases and any related negotiations
- Monitor client spend for our transactional revenue products and adjust commercial strategies when needed
- Help to set revenue targets at client and product level
- Refine the ratecards for our transactional revenue products
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to provide insights and recommendations
- Proactively address any customer issues or escalations to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention rates
- Regularly attend industry events to cultivate strong relationships with both current and prospective clients
- Work closely with the CS Manager to gain an understanding of the day-to-day helpdesk operations and work to address any client pain points
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in strategic account management, business development, or sales roles in the advertising industry. Experience in an agency or ad tech environment preferred. Experience in the audio industry preferred
- Friendly and outgoing with strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Excellent relationship-building and customer service abilities
- Proven ability to build trusted client relationships with stakeholders at all levels within an organisation
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights

The Media Leader is widely regarded as the leading UK trade publication for the media & advertising industry and the home of Adwanted Events’ leading industry conferences, such as the Future of TV Advertising series, the Future of Media, the Future of Brands, and Connected TV World Summit.
The Media Leader journalists play an integral role in shaping the content for these events, as well as conducting live interviews on stage and creating content for our site, social media, podcast and video channels.
We are looking for a reporter to join our growing team. This role will report into the Deputy Editor and will be responsible for covering some of our core sectors including the audio and outdoor advertising markets.
This person will also play a key role within the wider business, working with our audio and outdoor advertising departments at Adwanted to make sure we are telling stories that have a positive impact Adwanted UK.
The ideal candidate will be able to contribute towards high-quality content for our website, events, daily newsletter, social, podcast and video output.
Responsibilities
This role is perfect for you if you are looking for your first role in journalism or have years’ experience looking for that next challenge.
Open to all candidates with journalism training, for instance with an NCTJ or an MA qualification, as well as those with experience of working for a news, magazine or trade journal publisher.
You will either have a track record of delivering exclusive published stories or be able to demonstrate that you have the ideas, commitment and resourcefulness required to do so. Knowledge of the UK commercial media industry and of data journalism would be a bonus, but not essential.
Above all, you should be tenacious, diligent, and enjoy working in a vibrant environment. You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm for media and advertising, as well as being an efficient worker with good people skills.
You will be expected to:
- Immerse yourself in the media & advertising sectors we cover
- Write engaging and insightful copy that brings those issues to life
- Input into the research for conference agendas, including suggesting relevant speakers
- Build and nurture relationships within the media industry

About this Role
This Client Service Apprentice position is an excellent opportunity for a bright, analytical and numerical Client Service Apprentice to support the busy AudioTrack help desk team primarily on all aspects of the system. Both the AudioTrack system and the support team are highly regarded by our clients, many of whom use the help desk service on a daily basis. As you progress through your apprenticeship, it is hoped that there will be opportunities to widen your skills to support the J-ET Client Service team too. If you are a highly motivated and results-driven individual with a passion for technology, we would love you to join our hardworking, dedicated and lively team.
Responsibilities
- Learn AudioTrack and our other audio products comprehensively.
- Day to day support of the AudioTrack helpdesk. Ensuring that all helpdesk calls and incoming emails are acted upon in a timely manner.
- Develop, grow and maintain strong working relationships with all clients.
- Liaise with our client’s tech partners whose systems integrate with AudioTrack.
- Maintain the internal client management system and log all helpdesk calls and emails.
- Share your ideas and proactively contribute to marketing and client communications.
- Analyse and report on key metrics including system usage and helpdesk volumes
- Load weekly and ad-hoc data files provided by radio stations using automated processes, troubleshoot where the files contain incorrect data and liaise with the stations to provide new files.
- Be involved in the testing of new product developments and enhancements.
- Support the team in maintaining the AudioTrack databases.
- Replicate customer-reported issues, capturing and recording necessary information.
- Identify and escalate priority issues.
- Report software bugs/faults, liaise with developers and conduct testing to ensure these are resolved.
Career Progression
- Potential career progression includes developing both your client and software support skills. With opportunities to progress into more senior client service roles that include account management, user training and client onboarding. Alternatively, you might focus on software support and data skills and progress into a more data focussed role, learning SQL and API skills.
- On the job training and mentoring, along with your apprenticeship learning will ensure success.
About You
- You will be a confident and outgoing individual, who presents both themself and concepts and ideas well. Previous experience of presenting to others, would be an advantage.
- You will be numerate with an ability to analyse and interpret data and understand audience measurement calculations.
- A love all things software and systems and the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly will be fundamental to success in this role.
- Previous experience of working with the public or clients would be an advantage, and strong communications skills, both verbal and written are a must.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to demonstrate this, is essential – along with the ability to prioritise and problem solve.
- This role requires someone who thrives on working as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the media industry and the data that is used would be an advantage.
- Experience of Hubspot CRM and Sales tools would be helpful, but not essential.
- Educated to a minimum of Level 3 qualifications (e.g. A Levels) is required with GCSEs in Maths and English at grade B/6 and above.
