In May MTV, followed shortly by BSkyB, released its new Out of Home (OOH) research into viewing of satellite channels outside of the home – figures not currently accounted for by BARB viewing data. The results of the survey showed that OOH viewing adds 15% to Astra viewing amongst 16-34 year olds. *MTV OOH£ for full details Mid month saw the beginning of the end for Media & Airtime Sales (MAS) as LWT bought a major shareholding in YTTV and passed YTTV’s airtime sales contract to Laser – the wholly owned subsidiary of LWT.

According to figures leaked by ITV Granada’s net annual revenue share may have been over-estimated by 0.06% – equating to £1m in money terms. The NAR figures are used in the calculation of contractors contributions to and funding from the network centre.

In relation to TV revenue figures the ITC issued its annual report in May – which includes revenue figures for 1992 for ITV, C4, SC4 and TV-am. The figures give ITV a year on year increase of 5%, with C4 falling by 3.2%. The C4 figure may reflect the accusations made in May by C4 chairman Sir Michael Bishop that between 1989 and 1992 ITV ‘blatantly undersold’ C4.
